Special Workshop: Belfast Peace Trail
TITLE: Belfast Peace Trail (City Centre and Ormeau Road)

ABSTRACT: INNATE and partner organisations are developing peace trails around the island of Ireland, and currently creating ones for Belfast, Derry and Dublin. A small one was already produced for Co Mayo. This peace trail walk is a mixture of city centre and local and is more grassroots and community level than other peace trails. There are a huge number of examples of resistance to sectarianism and work for peace on the local level, but very few peace monuments or plaques of remembrance. The grounds of the City Hall has no reconciliation monument or artwork and Rob Fairmichael, a long-time peace activist, will speak about this. Rob has guided non-commercial socio-economic-political walking tours of central Belfast for some years.
